We have a new florist in town and it’s the Pollen Pantry, based on Bailey Street in Oswestry.  Run by owner Hannah, the floristry on offer brings a modern flavour to beautiful bouquets. Hannah is clearly skilled in the art and offers fresh flower deliveries, dried and silk arrangements from wall installations to vases and a lot more.

Talking about her love for the job, Hannah says, “I have wanted to be a florist since choosing my college courses, but I chose my ‘A’ Levels and ended up working in childcare for a long time.

“Early on in the covid pandemic, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and finally train as a florist. I enrolled at Yale in Wrexham and completed my level 2 and 3, achieving distinction stars in both. During this, I also had the opportunity to complete in World Skills twice and the Inter Flora student competition.

“I set up and ran my business via social media to start with, then opened a stall at the Oswestry indoor market during the summer. When the shop on Bailey Street became available, it was a bit of fate because it had actually been my Mum’s baby shop over 20 years ago! At the same time, my youngest child started full-time school, so it all lined up perfectly and was a great opportunity.”

Hannah says her customers are amazing and other florists in town have been very supportive. “My customers vary, from wedding couples already booked in for this year, to my regulars who like to treat themselves every so often and those who like to send a thoughtful gift.”

The Pollen Pantry’s most popular products are the gift bouquets. Set at different prices according to size, they make gifting a bit easier, especially when an expert is putting it together for you!

As you may well know, florists are kept very busy during the summer months with weddings. But as well as catering for weddings, Hannah also holds seasonal workshops and provides arrangements for events and funerals.

Her favourite products are her flower wraps, which let her inject some of her floristry flair. “The flower wraps can be made for any budget so are very popular. Also, a firm favourite are collection gift bouquets in water and those are priced from £20. People quite often like to provide a bouquet in water as a gift and I can arrange delivery for those to make it extra special.”

It’s coming up to Valentine’s Day, so don’t forget to place your orders early! If you order before 1st February, Hannah will include complimentary chocolate with it. Yum!
