A North Wales and Shropshire law firm with a long history of supporting local sports and sporting teams has confirmed its sponsorship of COBRA (Caereinion Old Boys Rugby Association) for the next twelve months.

GHP Legal says it is an honour to support the community rugby club, which is based in Meifod. Over the past few years the club has grown both in player numbers and reputation. It also now boasts one of the strongest women’s sides in Wales, and the club’s junior teams have seen a rise in applications as interest in the sport soars.

Hywel Jones, a Partner in GHP Legal’s Oswestry office, is a current prop and former club captain of COBRA, who in 2017 made his debut with Cardiff RFC in their Challenge Cup game at Cardiff Arms Park against Bridgend Ravens.

Several other GHP Legal Partners and staff are regular participants in local sporting events or are members of local sporting clubs. The firm, which has offices in Wrexham, Llangollen and Oswestry, is known for its charity fundraising as well as its sponsorship.

Speaking about the firm’s continued support of COBRA, Hywel Jones said: “Over the years GHP Legal has had several accomplished sportsmen and sportswomen within its various departments. As an employer we understand the importance of fitness, and the importance of providing the financial support for local teams that enables them to buy kit and travel to games.”
