The Walford Campus of North Shropshire College (NSC) holds a fantastic Spring Lambing Day event annually which is open to the public. This year the date has been set as Sunday 2nd April 11am-4pm and planning is underway to make this event a huge success. The College has over 400 ewes to lamb over the coming weeks with the first few arrivals this week.
Lucy Evans, Marketing Manager comments ‘The event offers families a wonderful and affordable experience for just £10 per family. Visitors can expect to see lots of lambs and every year there is a new arrival on the day itself for those lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.’
The lambs are obviously the stars of the show but the event offers so much more to visitors. On the farm side of the Campus, people will see cows being milked by a robot or in the more traditional parlour via our viewing platform, lots of farm machinery including harvesters and tractors, and horses in the equine stables and indoor arena with mounted displays. For the little ones, there will be a small course with ride on pedal bikes and tractors too.
On the opposite side of the Campus, there is lots to see. The Harris Centre comprises a mini zoo area consisting of alpacas, meerkats and birds of prey to name but a few, indoors people will see the exotic animals ranging from chameleons to tarantulas.
Within the motor vehicle area, visitors can take part in a scalextric competition and pose in the NSC kit car. With the event so close to Easter, there will be a themed treasure hunt around the Campus plus a tombola, climbing wall, face painting, a bouncy castle and in our beautiful walled garden, Porthywaen Silver Band will play two sessions.
There will also be many stalls for people to visit, including the Derwen College’s market next to their bespoke training centre at Walford, selling a range of yummy treats including jams and cakes. There are food outlets around the campus serving hot drinks and snacks, many families make a whole day of it to ensure they pack everything in!
This fantastic day out is just £10 per family! Cars can park at the Campus (SY4 2HL) or at the Corbet School via a park and ride scheme available. There is no need to pre-book, just come along on Sunday 2nd April any time between 11am-4pm.
